Dilated Diabetic Surveillance
Diabetes is the third largest cause of sight loss in the United Kingdom. Poor control and long history of the disease (Type 1 and Type 2) will almost always lead to retinal pathology. Our Optomap provides a much wider field of retinal screening compared to the standard hospital fundus cameras.
Our dilated diabetic surveillance is suitable for patients with diabetes or those at risk (example; pre-diabetes, gestational diabetes, or hyperglycaemia).
The highest level of patient care and clinical assessment include:
- 60-minute appointment.
- Experienced practitioners.
- Rexxam Auto-Refraction (Japan) provides a quick and accurate measurement of your spectacle prescription.
- Optomap (California) for retinal screening for haemorrhaging with social distancing.
- Topcon Tomography (Japan), like ultrasound but uses light to screen for macular oedema and produces an ETDRS (Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Screening) grid.
- Slit lamp microscopy (Japan) is used to assess anterior chamber activity and iris rubeosis.
- A paper or digital copy of your prescription will be issued.
- Discussion on retinal health and central macular thickness.
- Referral/report to your GP/NHS hospital if required.
The dilated diabetic surveillance is provided as part of our Gold Plan membership. For patient not subscribed to our care plan, the current pay-as-you-go professional fee of £103 will be charged.
